Monte das Coroas

Cinfães
Description
Monte das Coroas

It`s a Castro civilization; It was a fortified town whose occupation can go back to the Bronze Age. As indeed was characteristic of their implantation in high and strategic points, it was built on a hill overlooking the right bank of the Bestança river. Intensely Romanized during the first century A.D., still remains a set of turrets and the four wall lines, being the second and third of polygonal bond.

The archaeological site covers an area of relative amplitude, about six hectares. On the perimeter of the space, full of medieval elements, it still remains cobbled sidewalks, rudimentary buildings, some rock art, a ceramic oven and two caverns open in the rocks.

Within the walls space, ie within the internal walls, it was developed housing and daily areas. It is here, in the center of the building, which are still some infrastructural elements of simple rectangular configuration and small footprint that would be no more than shelters for storms.
