Mogadouro Castle is situated in Mogadouro Historical Zone. Its initial building dates from the end of XI century. In the second half of XII century it is donated by D.Afonso Henriques to the “Templários”, that made reformations in castle composition and architecture, particularly with the Donjon building. In XIII and XIV there were introduced in its architecture gothic elements. After XV century, the “Távora” family changed the Castle into their palace residence.
