Melgaço Wall

Melgaço
Description
From the ancient wall that surrounded the village, two doors still remain: one near the Castle Northwest Tower with round arch over smooth imposts topped by five modillions; the other, to the west on the main circulation street (Rua Direita). The door has round arch with voussois over imposts topped by five modillions. The ancient wall was dismantled and now we only have perception of it by the urban disposal of the village.

The wall was built in the kingdom of D. Afonso III.
