Among the many prehistoric vestiges found in Castro Laboreiro, the Necrópole Megalítica of its plateau is certainly the most interesting one.
It’s one of the largest and most important megalithic necropolis in Peneda-Gerês, ranging about 20 square miles and boasting 90 visible monuments, 36 of them in Galician territory. Moreover, it’s the largest megalithic monuments concentration in the Iberian Peninsula and one of the largest in
Europe.
It’s because of its location, at about 3.600 feet high, that this interesting nucleus dated from the Neolithic to the Bronze Age is so well preserved. Most of the tumulus still preserves its megalithic dolmen.
Take advantage of the height and enjoy the amazing panoramic views.
