The Gondar Romanesque church, in the Monastery, will be the starting point of this hike. From here, we start along a paved street from which, after 800 meters, we turn onto a dirt track where we walk among Portuguese broom and pine trees, until we reach the breathtaking Marancinho Stream valley. Here, in a small and cosy wood made up of oak, chestnut and cork oak trees, we take a part of an old Roman road, which still has some of its original pavement preserved, and where it is easy to see the wear that, over time, wheeled vehicles of times past have caused. After walking among granite walls that separate the road from dense undergrowth and pine trees, we finally arrive at Cruzeiro. Here we again move down to the Marancinho Stream and we walk along old tracks surrounded by vines and return to the monastery where we started.
