The Lamego Museum is situated in the historical centre of the city. It was built in the 18th century, under the patronage of Bishop Manuel Vasconcelos Pereira, and was the Episcopal Palace. It is an important cultural reference due to the quality and singularity of some works of art in its possession. From the entire collection, the objects classified by the Portuguese Government as National Treasure stand out: a medieval sarcophagus, panels by Vasco Fernandes (Grão Vasco), a set of Flemish tapestries, and figured tile panels.
