The Interpretative Center of Geira, was built in 2009, in the context of a cross-border project, located in the township of Lago, provides its visitors an explanation of the Roman road that passed through the territory of Amares which connected Bracara Augusta (Braga) to Asturica Augusta (present Astorga).
This Center is designed for those who are interested in discovering the roman Geira and other points of interest that the city has to offer, since it is located at the main entrance in the municipality of Amares.
The Interpretative Center of Geira is a permanent museum space at the service of the public, which incorporates, preserves, communicates and presents, through education and leisure purposes, testimonies on the path that crossed the municipality of Amares.
Aimed at promoting the cultural heritage, both material and immaterial, preserving and making known a local and regional identity.
