The S. Lourenço de Pias Church is a Baroque style monument that started to be built in 1736 and was completed in 1739. It shows an austere and formal architecture, revealing some vulgarity in its construction. In spite of this austerity, the church is situated in a place with monumentality and balance. The bell tower is the element that breaks the monotony of the set and it is separated from the main body of the church. But it is in the inside that the church reveals its richness. Its magnificent baroque carving in “joanino” style, its altar, the extraordinary quality of the images and tile panels that covers the sanctuary, effectively cause fascination.
