The House Museum of Gente da Nave was founded in November 2000.
Here we can find real relics that once filled the homes and the lives of people, from the iron pots to straw beds that we could find in the kitchen, the wooden shoes next to the bed, the phone on the kitchen cabinet, the trunk of the trousseau at the bottom of the bed, the straw mattresses that warmed on the coldest winter nights, the quilts of rags.
This is located at the top of Tulha square, in Alvite in one of the old streets where the granite embellishes the houses and where the slab builds up the street of this small village situated on the plateau of Nave. Time passes and slowly try to delete the best that has this village, its craft, its traditions, the own culture of a people who for many years lived forgotten and hidden in the middle of the plateau of Nave.
These are the most precious assets of this land and its inhabitants want to keep them at all costs, as they are the reason for its existence.
For many years the Alvitanos worked the material that the earth gave him, thus creating beautiful crafts such as baskets, quilts, income towels, clogs, strainers and dough mixers, as well as straw beds and iron pots where the food was made at the fire.
Location: Moimenta da Beira
