Occupied by the Romans, Christian parish during the Middle Ages, Vila da Ponte won the status of village in 1661, having been assigned, Town Hall, House Chain and Pillory. Largo da Praça shows the administrative importance of the older days. The village lost its status in 1855, definitely integrating Sernancelhe municipality, getting to our days beautiful examples of civil architecture that is worth knowing.
