The Churchyard, unifying of civility, was the village square until the nineteenth century. Beside the church, built in the late twelfth century, stands the old Primary School, current Municipal Library. Beside is the Museum Padre Cândido, space that displays religious art, liturgical vestments and several copies of Sernancelhe history and culture. Further, the pillory of high granitic column, date from 1554 and it`s opposite to the Town Hall, of which seems inseparable companion. The Order of Malta, to which is own the prosperous period of the Municipality of Sernancelhe, still exhibits the house where for years notable friars and commanders have developed valuable initiatives for the community. The nobility left us copies as the Casa dos Condes da Lapa and Barons of Moçâmedes. The Solar dos Carvalhos, that rises behind the church, was built in the eighteenth century.
