Gardens Manuel Faria

Vizela
Description
Manuel João de Freitas Ribeiro de Faria, an eminent ‘vizelense’, main worker of this "visitors living room" of the city. In this place there is a band-stand with tile panels, from the year 2006. A representative monument of the Confraternity of the Traditional Sponge Cake may be seen, opened in the year 2010. Right next to it, a monument erected in honour of ex-combatants in Ultramar (Overseas), inaugurated in year 2013. Can be observed a headstone in honour of Camilo Castelo Branco, placed during the celebration of the centenary of his death in 1990 and still an allegory that symbolizes the Roman origin of the Termas de Vizela, "Vizela Romana", of which he was the author the ‘vizelense’ painter José Pereira da Costa, reproduced in statue by sculptor John Barata Feyo, a portuense.
