Short description: Located on the top of two hills, ithey consist of two polygons: the Recinto Magistral (Magistral Space) and the Coroada (in hornwork style – it is an important exterior work composed by two half-bastions, joined by a front curtain), are separated by a moat with false-palisades and four ravelins, which protect the four gates (Coroada, Gaviarra, Fonte da Vila and Sol). The two spaces are divided by the Portas do Meio with fixed bridge. The Fortress is a candidate for World Heritage.
