Fonte da Vila (Village Fountain)

Melgaço
Description
The Village Fountain was built in the mid-seventeenth century. Few things are known about this monument, except that during the Napoleonic wars the coat of arms was covered with mortar. This fountain is a graceful stone work where we can see both beauty and roughness. Also, we can notice a coat or arms based in an inscription decorated with volutes, two human heads, a shell ornament and the open royal crown.
