Fair of the 16th Century Writer - Sá de Miranda through the Lands of Vila Verde
Organized by the municipality of Vila Verde, in close partnership with the Groupings of Schools of sub-counties, The High School of Vila Verde, the Professional School Amar Terra Verde, the ‘Quinhentista Fair’ (16thcentury Writer Fair), taking place since 2010, aims to pay tribute to the great poet of the Renaissance who lived in Neiva for many years and in which he wrote much of his work.
Among the diverse schedule, highlight is given to the Dinner and the 16th Century Writer Evening Concert, a Fair and a Parade representative of time. With a strongly cultural and literary motivation, Vila Verde goes back 500 years in time and recreates the intense animation and popular enthusiasm, combined with the large mobilization of school communities. All in honour of one of the “most important figures of the national poetry”, Francisco Sá de Miranda, the "Poet of Neiva.
During three days, the municipality and region learn more about the life and work of "Sá de Miranda in the land of Vila Verde". Music, dance, poetry, street theatre, popular games, the weapons match on horse and falconers give expression to an initiative that aims at recreating, in all respects, the Renaissance era, when Francisco Sá de Miranda walked through lands of Vila Verde.
