Evocative Mark of the Napoleonic Troops

Description
This granite monolith was put in Santiago de Bougado by the Abbot Pedrosa in the century XIX. It is located in the same place where the french army was camped during his visit in March 1809. It has the following inscription: «DE 25 PARA / 26 DE MARÇO / DE 1809 / ACAMPOU / NESTE SOU / TO PARTE / DO EXERCI /TO FRAN / CEZ CO/ MANDADO / PELO MA / RECHAL / SOULT / DUQUE/ DE / DALMACIA» (From 25 to 26/March it was camped in this place the french army led by Marshal Soult, Duke of Calmatia). This milestone was inlaid in a wall of a private property in Souto de Bairros, being recovered by the Casa da Cultura in March/2009. At the time of the bicentenary of the French Invasions it was placed in the gardens of Souto de Bairros, where it remains.
