In 1900, at the World Exhibition in Paris, the architect Adães Bermudes, presented a Schools project, being awarded the gold medal. This model was adopted by the Portuguese state, becoming known as "Schools Adães Bermudes", having special features.
The buildings have separate entrances, for male and female students, to their rooms of large windows, with stone and brick surround abroad. The rooms were divided in two wings, separated by a higher center, for the teacher, who acquired dignity in the image projected by this architecture.
Still today called Escola da Feira is the only example of this type in Espinho.
