Description

The Crestuma/Lever Dam is the passage over the River Douro downstream, in the extreme east of Vila Nova de Gaia’s municipality. It came into operation in 1986.

The Dam, of mobile type, is constituted by 9 pillars of 25,5 meters height in which sustain eight discharging water gates and a maritime floodgate next to the left bank of the Douro. The reservoir extends around 44km and has a capacity of 11millions m3 of water.
