The Country Park João Paulo II occupies an area of about 3.5 hectares, and is inserted in the core of the urban Caxinas network in Vila do Conde.
The park occupies a wide green space, crossed by numerous walkways, surrounded by natural meadows and extensive lawns, which allows the practice of leisure and recreation in a free environment.
The landscape of the park is further enhanced by the presence of trees and by a diversity of plant species. There is also a large lake and the abundant riparian vegetation provides shelter and food to a diverse and growing range of fauna, which is starting to inhabit the park.
This urban entity is walled, and there is a café, public toilets, and a centre of activities for children and young people.
The Country Park João Paulo II was inaugurated in 2005 and was designed by architect Siza Vieira, in collaboration with landscape architect João Gomes da Silva.
