Corgo Park

Vila Real
Description

Corgo Park is situated on the banks of the river that gives it its name. It has an area of more than 80 acres, and is connected to the Forest Park right in the heart of the city. It has a number of amenities: sports fields, walking pathways, Codessais picnic area (equipped with barbecues and tables), open-air municipal swimming pools, a children’s playground, cafés and tea houses; and it’s also possible to see a number of old windmills, some of them refurbished.

In the Forest Park area, there is an exercise circuit, an invitation to local residents to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Some official organisations also have their premises in this area: the Forestry Department (North), and the National Republican Guard’s Service for the Protection of Nature and the Environment (GNR - SEPNA). The future premises of the Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro Science and Technology Park are being constructed on one of the river banks.

This part of Vila Real plays a major role in the lives of the city’s people, and there is a notable connection between them, the river and the whole environment of the Park. Let the River Corgo be your host... it will introduce you to every corner of this Park! Come and enjoy it!
