The Avessadas Convent belongs to the Order of Discalced Carmelites. This Order is a branch of the Carmelite Order, formed in 1593, the result of a reform made to the Carmelite charism held by St. Teresa of Avila and St. John of the Cross.
It was in 1960 that the first stone of what would be the house of the novitiate and the Shrine of the Infant Jesus of Prague was launched. This building consists of two equal bodies that are separated by the Church of Christians was born in the grounds of Quinta da Moria in Avessadas, Marco de Canaveses.
In 1980 part of the convent was adapted for prayer house and in 1982 was inaugurated the Spirituality Center.
In this Sanctuary occur many pilgrims to receive the blessings of the Infant Jesus of Prague. These always occur in the Eucharist 11:30 am Sunday closest to the 25th of each month, as this is the day of Jesus.
In the Convent of the land there is a beautiful garden but to which only you have access requesting authorization for the visit.
