An ancient manor of the Coutinhos, Counts of Marialva, also known as the Solar dos Freixos (Ash-Trees Manor) due to the century old trees in the garden, in the eighties of the twentieth century it was acquired by an inhabitant of Penedono and was donated to the City Council, to be transformed into the City Hall building. It is where most of the public services of the Penedono Municipality are located.
It is a longitudinal building with 2 floors, with access to the 2nd floor being made through a stone staircase with a scrolls handrail, from the inner patio, where we can see some replicas of medieval war weapons.
Next to the facade abuts the manor chapel of St. John the Baptist, paced by seven slightly curved windows and by a straight central portal. This chapel currently holds the Penedono Interpretation Centre.
The surrounding area is landscaped, where some large century old trees stand out.
