It was built in the 18th century, during the reign of King John V and in the front, bears the Royal coat of arms.
Raised adjacent to a military hospital, created in the Restoration era, where towards the end of year 700, the "School of Anatomy and Surgery of Chaves", began functioning, as one of the four or five existing schools during the reign of Dona Maria.
