The former building of the old primary school of Raposeira, a hamlet in the parish of S. João de Fontoura, houses the Ceramic Centre, that hosts an exhibition and educational space. There you can admire a collection of several pieces of black pottery made by “master” Joaquim, the last of the potters of Fazamões, an hamlet in the parish of Paus.
This interpretation centre aims to revive the craft of black pottery in Resende, once in this region, since medieval times, potters have always worked the clay in their wheels, burned it in the “soengas” (a type of hole in the ground), and exchanged the pottery pieces in the region's fairs or from door to door for agricultural products.
This centre may develop creative workshops or interpretive tours on the topic.
