CEDIEC, European Center of Documentation and Investigation, in Boticas, intended for the enhancement of proto-historic artistic expressions in the Peninsular Northwest. Its main reference is the exceptional finding of four celebrated warrior statues in Outeiro Lesenho, which became emblem of regional culture, with recognized originality in the history of European archeology. The iconographic collection of warrior statues is one of the most significant archaeological expressions of forts culture in the Northwest of the Iberian Peninsula. Interpreted as an evolution of the Bronze Age stele-statues, with Celtic and Mediterranean elements that were associated during the Iron Age, they can evoke the heads as glorification of ancestors. Some sitting statues may also be suggested as expressions of heads seated on the throne in ceremonial acts or in community council meetings.
