Castro Goujoim

Armamar
Description
Castro Goujoim is the best known archaeological resort of the city, classified in April 2013 Public Interest Site. It was a town with occupation since the late Bronze Age to the Iron Age. There are still traces of subsequent Roman and late medieval occupation. It lies about 820 meters above sea level, overlooking the village of Goujoim.

It`s visible remains of walls, some of them are large and well-kept. You can also see the ruins of a watchtower in an area that is considered to be the main entrance on the protected perimeter of the ancient fortification.

There is in the surrounding area one milestone, an Augustalis Terminus (Century I AD), delimitation element of the territories of that time and is one of only three existing copies in the Iberian Peninsula.
