The fortified settlemtent of Vale da Águia (Iron Age) emerges on a cliff bend above the Douro. It blends and coexists in harmony with the River, coinciding with the village’s “acropolis”, produces a stunning scenery, it was built two and a half millenniums ago. Skirting below the Carrascosa riverside, there is a strong wall preceded by a field of stones that defended the fortified settlement gate.
