Castle of Algoso

Vimioso
Description
Dating back to the mid of XII century, associated with the other eastern fortresses of  Trás-os-Montes, it has been  an important part of the royal authority statement  in this peripheral region, that borders with the kingdom of Léon. Built by Mendo Bofino, at the  service of the king  Sancho I, the Castle was the political-military centre of the so called  “Terra de Miranda” (Land of Miranda).
