Built in the middle of the 16th century, the Abreu Távora Palace, renamed some years later “the Earls of the Carreira House”, is one of the most beautiful manor houses of the city, remarkable for its Manueline doors and windows that the alterations and the amplifications has preserved but also given more splendour and wealth. Since 1972, the Town Hall is established in this building.
