Casa das Artes of Felgueiras is located in the former Fonseca Moreira Theatre, which was recently recovered and improved. It is a place devoted to the various performing arts, with room for 267 people (including two spaces meant for wheelchairs) and boasting a café-concerto.
The Fonseca Moreira theatre is the result the dream and work of António José de Fonseca Moreira, a man from Felgueiras who made fortune in Brazil. Self-taught, he was a lover of performing arts. The official inauguration took place on February 20, 1921, graced by Fonseca Moreira himself and his own play, titled “Feitiço contra Feiticeiro”.
