Bridge of Fundo de Rua

Amarante
Description

Located on one of the two traffic channels that connect Amarante to the inner Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro regions, the Bridge of Fundo de Rua, built over the river Ovelha, is a robust stone structure, possibly built in the 17th century in order to replace an older crossing. Composed of four different arches which support a slightly sloping platform, it stands out from the landscape as an important engineering work that allowed the circulation of people and goods in this Iberian territory.
