The dolmen of Barrosa, located in Vila Praia de Ancora, was classified as a national monument in 1910. It is considered one of the most emblematic megalithic monuments of the Iberian Peninsula, documenting cultural aspects of the late Neolithic period.
This monument, commonly called by Lapa do Mouro, is formed by a megalithic chamber (area sepulchral par excellence), consisting of nine overlapping stone slabs, supporting on each other, four on each side, from the head, slightly fractured, which implants itself vertically with a rectangular configuration.
The dolmen of Barrosa has a unique interest, either from a scientific point of view, or for tourism and culture in general, due to its architecture, its size, its conservation state and its assets.
