Aldeia (Village) of Urjal

Amares
Description
The village of Urjal, located in the parish of Seramil, is positioned on the slopes of the mountain of Santa Isabel and the hill of the Abadia. In the historic center of the village, some granaries and a set of cottages are salient, typical of Minho, some of them have been renovated and adapted for rural tourism.

This village is characterized by its old houses made of stone blocks, the gravelly ground and stairways in between the houses. It is therefore a typical Minho village surrounded by green pastures and the adjacent slopes of worked terraces. The landscape is still heavily marked by vast plantations of the famous orange of Amares.
