The Alameda dos Descobrimentos Gardens (Discovery Avenue Gardens), is the result of a planned urban action that was created to establish the transition between the urban network of the old city’s core and the new consolidated area of urban sprawl. It was also meant to open the city to the river.
This is a green "corridor", full of physical and visual fruition, in which the primary ecological functions integrate with the recreational component and movement of people. In the garden, one can enjoy the green space and the range of existing fountains along the entire corridor, and enjoy coffee and the terrace located there. The construction of this area goes back to the beginning of the nineties, and is under the authorship of landscape architect Manuel Sousa da Câmara.
