The Agricultural Association of Boalhosa was established by the Estado Novo as part of the land reorganisation policy led by the Local Settlement Board, turning extensive waste land into cultivated areas.
The initial project consisted of two centres: Lameira do Real (in Arcos de Valdevez and Monção) and Vascões, formed by 15 semi-detached houses, able to accommodate 30 “farming households”, complemented by other facilities such as a primary school and the teacher’s lodgings – the existing facilities of the Environmental Education and Interpretive Centre of Corno de Bico –, the community oven, a dispensary and a chapel, but the latter two were never built because of the lack of funding.
Location: Paredes de Coura
