Since the 11th century Póvoa do Varzim’s natural bay served as a departure point for the vessels, which men improved upon with the passage of time. Among these we highlight the "Lancha Poveira"which, although fast and easy to handle, did not survive the onset of modern technology (you can see the replica which is moored in the Marina). The Fishing Harbour is well worth a visit. The whole hustle and bustle and color of the arrivals and departures of the boats is always an unforgettable sight.
