Acácio Linode Magalhães, full name of the contemporary painter, born in 1878, in the house of the Quarry, Parish of Travanca and died in 1956. It was the seventh child of the couple Rodrigo de Magalhães and Maria do Carmo, who, after him, still would increase the family with five brothers.
He studied at the Academy of Oporto of Fine Arts where he teach design history. Over the course, was then admitted as fellow of the State. Went to the "city-light" and there reunited with big names in painting, sculpture, architecture, medicine and politics.
He was awarded with medal of honor in painting from the National Society of Fine Arts in 1927, 1940 and 1941 and honored with medal of the city of Porto.
In the vast catalog of his paintings is noted as examples, "Vision of epic poems", 1940, "Pride of race", inspired by a scene from the play "Leonor Teles”, of Marcelino de Mesquita and "O Grande Desvairo", scene of the drama of love and death of D. Pedro I and D. Inês de Castro.
