A joining of two energies— music and technology.
Pianist-composer Mariel Mayz, and Javascript engineer and generative artist Taylor Baldwin, come together for a multimedia performance to engage the senses. Mariel Mayz, the curator of Porto Pianofest’s New Music Series, will be performing original piano works as well as works by Fazil Say, Clarice Assad, and John Adams. Concurrently, Taylor Baldwin (Uber, New York Times, BuzzFeed) has developed a new software for this collaborative performance, which will project computer-generated artwork based on the sound frequency produced by the piano, all in the starry, open-air space of the Universidade do Porto’s Reitoria courtyard. Overall, this event will combine image and sound in a world-premiere partnership.
